What Should a Loft Insulation Quote Include?

A checklist for reading quotes properly — and spotting what has been left out.

A quote that says 'insulate loft — £950' tells you nothing. A proper quote lets you compare like with like and holds the installer to a specification.

    • How we quote

    It should state clearly

    • Loft floor area in square metres
    • Insulation type and installed depth in millimetres
    • Whether existing insulation is being removed, topped up or left
    • Waste disposal arrangements and whether disposal is included
    • Ventilation measures such as lap vents or eaves clearance
    • Loft hatch draught-proofing and insulation
    • Tank and pipe insulation where present
    • Boarding area and construction method if boarding is included
    • Total price, what is fixed and what could change
    • Expected duration and whether it is a fixed written quote

    Red flags

    • A price given before anyone has established the loft's area
    • No depth specified, or 'to current standards' with no figure
    • Pressure to sign the same day, or a discount that expires immediately
    • Removal and disposal quietly excluded
    • Deposits requested in cash

    How we quote

We assess most lofts remotely using satellite imagery and your photographs, then issue a fixed written quote based on published per-square-metre rates. On completion you receive a certificate recording the work carried out, materials used and insulation depths installed.

    Common questions

What should be included in a loft insulation quote?

Loft area in m², insulation type and depth, removal and disposal, ventilation measures, hatch treatment, boarding details if applicable, and a clear total price.

If you would like an honest opinion on your own loft, send us your postcode and a few photographs. Most lofts can be assessed and quoted remotely using satellite imagery, and we will tell you if work is not necessary.
